Welcome to the Singapore Masonic Library, located on the 2nd floor of Freemasons Halll. The collection holds approx. 1500 books and periodicals covering the history, philosophy, and practise of Freemasonry. Special emphasis is placed on the craft as practised in this part of the world under the auspices of the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago (DGLEA), a district under the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE).

This website exists to support Masonic research and help readers, wheather initiated or curious understand Freemasonry in greater depth. The digital collection is substantion in that it contains, among others over 200 papers from Lodge St. Michael going back to the days of ist founding in 1902. There is also an almost complete run of "The Pentagram" from its first issue in 1909 as well as early copies of the Ars Quator Coronati from its very first issue in 1888 onwards. Hard copies of later editions are held in the library itself.
Browsing these early materials is a rewarding experience. It speaks of and illustrates the depth of scholarship and the seriousness with which Freemasons of that bygone era applied themselves to masonic research. The Library Committee of the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago traces its origins to the 1890s when Sir Charles Warren, himself a prominent Freemason and promoter of the craft commanded the Singapore garrison. The nucleus of the library itself were books belonging to The Zetland in the East Lodge No. 508 E.C.. The library committe has always been closely associated with Lodge St. Michael No. 2933 E.C. Lodge St. Michael is a research lodge still working originally modelled on the premier research Lodge of the English constitution, Lodge Quatuor Coronati of which Sir Charles Warren was the founding Worshipful Master. "Transactions of the Lodge St. Michael" were published from 1903 - 1908 and are reproduced here. In 1909 the Library Committee launched "The Pentagram" in which it combined District news with a selectio of papers presented to the Lodge of St. Michael. The Pentagram, too, is published to this day.
By 1923 the library had grown to some threethousand volumes, all of which were lost during the Japanese occupation of Singapore and their requisition of Freemasons Hall. The work of rebuilding the library continues.
It is a short distance from the Central Business District and easily accessible by public transport with the closest Mass Rapid Transit Station being Clarke Quay and City Hall MRT Stations. There are also bus-stops within short walking distance. Taxis are easily available.
There is no public parking at Freemasons' Hall. Public parking is, however, easily available nearby.
